Pride is something that many encouraged, each in their own way and with their own intention.

Pride in one's purpose, one's capabilities, one's accomplishments.

Teal'c had been taught its reverse as an element of learning it well. Balance, he had been told, is the key to advancement. O'Neill later introduced him to jokes about deadly falls.

Yet something more had been implanted in all that time; something that could prove a far greater danger, despite his acknowledgement of its presence now.

It is perhaps best that all knew, that the roots of his failure were exposed. He will not forget.
