The heat and the scent of the body in her arms threaten to fade. To take her with them.

Shaking, praying, eye clamped shut to cloak the existence around her, she hugs the silent Nebari closer. Tears burn.

A distant scream. Footsteps running fast. Sounds begin to rise around her, but she does not acknowledge their penetration into her senses. Nothing can surpass what occurred in this room.

"By the goddess, Stark, why is Jool-?"

She looks into the blue face of the woman the regretful murderer loved. She cannot look into the eyes, for there is no peaceful answer.
